Story

Each episode of Twirlywoos is based around a schema, behaviours that children show when they explore the world around them, such as “up and down” or “inside and outside” or “over and under”. The series was developed in collaboration with Professor Cathy Nutbrown, an early year’s educational expert. The characters in Twirlywoos are constantly discovering new and exciting objects. The show encourages toddlers to think for themselves, gain confidence and develop their sense of curiosity.

Who are the main characters of Twirlywoos?

Great Big Hoo: He's the biggest Twirlywoo. He is very curious and strong. He likes to explore and to see how things work.
Toodloo: She is a red Twirlywoo who loves to sing and dance. She often acts before thinking.
Chickedy and Chick: These two little Twirlywoos are always together. They are very energetic and quick.
Peekaboo: This little owl-like creature hides from the Twirlywoos on The Big Red Boat. He's a hoarder of strange and interesting objects.
The Very Important Lady: She thinks of herself with great importance. Whenever she sings but fails to hit the top note, she falls apart. The Twirlywoos help putting her back together.
The Box It looks like a regular cardboard box, but there is always something new and exciting inside.
The Marching Band: These four brass characters troop up and down the beach while playing lively marching tunes.
The Quacky Birds: The three Quacky Birds can be seen on top of The Big Red Boat, from where they navigate the Twirlywoos through the water.
The Stop-Go-Car: This cheeky vehicle loves to play games. It leads the Twirlywoos on a chase around the boat and sometimes holds a surprise in the boot.
The Twirly Screen: This is a magical screen where drawings come to life.
