Story
The animated show Grisù was created by Italian brothers Nino and Toni Pagot, who are also known for creating the character Calimero. The original series first appeared in 1964 as a series of commercial shorts for Mentafredda Caremoli candies, which were part of the television program Carosello. A full television series consisting of 52 episodes aired for the first time in 1972.
In 2020, a CGI revival of the series was announced, with Mondo TV Group, Toon2Tango, and ZDF Enterprises co-producing a new version of the show, which was released on December 4, 2023, and currently airs on Rai Yoyo, Kika, and JimJam.
The animated series follows the adventures of a little dragon who dreams of becoming a firefighter. Despite his father Fumé’s disapproval, Grisù is determined to pursue his unconventional career choice. Each day, Grisù visits the fire chief David, who is the father of his best friend Stella, hoping for a job at the fire station.
Although there are no firefighting positions available, David finds alternative roles for Grisù. The enthusiastic dragon takes on various jobs such as shepherd, cook, florist, archaeologist, pilot, and sailor, always putting his heart into each task.
Grisù’s adventures often take unexpected turns due to his unique “dragon touch.” When faced with challenges, his emotions can overwhelm him, causing him to release small sparks that complicate situations. However, Grisù’s heroic spirit and determination shine through as he overcomes obstacles, living by his motto, “Firefighters never give up!”
