Story
Gudetama is a Japanese cartoon character from 2013, produced by the Japanese company Sanrio. The character is an anthropomorphic, lazy and sad egg yolk.
Following the succes of the cartoon character, an animated series was launched by Netflix in 2022 under the title “Gudetama – A Eggcellent Adventure”. The show consists of an adorable hatchling called Shakipiyo, who is looking for his mother. He is running about wearing a pair of pants made of the egg shell in which it was recently hatched. This super-adorable little chick takes lazy and indifferent Gudetama along for the adventure.
The series’ humor can be quite dark and weird at times. The show touches on some deep, existential themes where the characters question their own existence.
“Gudetama – An Eggcellent Adventure” is mostly filmed in live action environments, while objects were created in CGI.
