Story
“Mecha Builders” (also known as Sesame Street Mecha Builders” is an American CGI animated series that premiered in 2022. It’s a spin-off of the popular series Sesame Street, and focuses on three of its characters : Abby Caddaby, Elmo and Cookie Monster.
In “Mecha Builders”, the three heroes become “mecha” versions of themselves, mechanical beings that can become larger than life and are equipped with various built-in tools and gadgets. Mecha Abby, Mecha Elmo and Mecha Cookie use these tools to solve all kinds of problems they encounter in their daily lives in their town of Pretty Big City. In order to bring the project to a satisfying conclusion, the trio must always follow the three necessary steps: plan it, test it and solve it!
“Mecha Builders” aims at giving the young audience an introduction into STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) by showing various basic problems and how to solve them. They always proceed in the same way by forming a hypothesis, build a prototype or theory and test it, and use educational observations to solve the problem.
With “Mecha Builders”, young children learn how a periscope is built, what asteroids are made from or how lifts work!
This newest iteration of the famous Sesame Street characters brings STEM subjects within children’s range in a very clever way.
