11-year-old Mike Mazinsky applies to a foreign exchange program and wishes to be sent to a tropical island. She finds herself on Albonquetine Island, populated by descendants of a British shipwreck and named after its founder Joshua Wendell Albonquetine. Mike quickly befriends Lu and Og, who try to make her feel at home. Everytime Mike misses something about her life in New York, they try to recreate the particular objects.
