Story

From 1976 until 1989, the two main characters of the show didn’t have a name. It was then decided to name them with the shortened version of “patlal” and “matlal”, which mean “clumsy” and “awkward”. Because that’s what these two handymen are, clumsy and awkward! In each episode, Pat and Mat try to solve self-made problems, using a wide variety of possible and impossible tools and gadgets. Ultimately, their attempts always go wrong, making things even worse! Luckily, they always find a solution in the end. Each episode ends with Pat and Mat shaking hands and making their trademark hand gesture, a fist bump. In Czech, the animated series is called “Pat a Mat”.
