Petz Club

Nina set up “Petz Club” with her friends Oscar, Tim and Marlou the Dog, who used to be a stray dog but was adopted by the children. They created this secret club to help find lost animals and return them to their inconsolable young owners. They also start investigations when a pet acts out of order. Our heroes have to juggle school life and running Petz club investigations. Becoming a detective when you’re just 7 years old is not that easy. But with methods and complementary skills there is nothing our heroes can’t do! Petz Club, SOS Lost Animals is about the very special relationship that exists between children and their beloved pets.

The stories of “Petz Club” are quite simple and all look a bit alike, but the cartoon is rather clever, multiplying false leads and managing to keep the suspense until the end.

In addition to these stories, Petz Club has a whole educational section on pets: for example, advice on how to protect animals on hot days, warnings on their diet or their behaviour. A dozen veterinarians participated in the creation of the series, which adds to the quality of the show. The messages delivered seem sensible and serious.

In addition to emphasising all the responsibilities involved in caring for an animal, this cartoon does not forget to mention that a pet can be sick, injured or even die. There are episodes on animal abuse and trafficking. Of course, it remains light because it is a children’s programme, but at least it has the merit of talking about it.
