“Shrek” is a 2001 animated feature film produced by DreamWorks Animation and directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson. The film is based on William Steig’s 1990 picture book of the same name. The movie follows the journey of Shrek (Mike Myers), an ogre who lives in a swamp and likes to keep to himself. However, his peaceful life is disrupted when a group of fairy tale creatures are sent to live in his swamp by the evil Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow).
Determined to get his swamp back, Shrek strikes a deal with Lord Farquaad: he will rescue Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) from a tower guarded by a dragon, in exchange for his swamp being cleared of the fairy tale creatures. Shrek sets off on his journey with his new companion, a talkative and annoying donkey (Eddie Murphy). Along the way, they encounter various challenges and obstacles, including the dragon and a group of aggressive villagers.
Upon reaching the tower, Shrek and Donkey rescue Princess Fiona and begin their journey back to Lord Farquaad’s castle. Along the way, Shrek and Fiona grow closer, but Fiona is hiding a secret: she turns into an ogre at night due to a curse. When they finally reach the castle, Lord Farquaad plans to marry Fiona, but Shrek interrupts the wedding and reveals Fiona’s curse. In the chaos that ensues, the dragon crashes the wedding and eats Lord Farquaad, and Shrek and Fiona declare their love for each other.
