Story
The American animated show “Space Racers” was first launched as a web series on PBS Kids and PBS Kids Go! in 2011 under the name “Space Race”. It was later developed into a full television series from 2014 onwards under the current name.
“Space Racers” is a preschool series with a very strong focus on STEM, having received contributions and fundings from NASA around science and space technology education. The show also partners with the US Space & Rocket Center and US Space Camps.
The series takes us to the Stardust Space Academy, where a group of young cadets are trained for their missions. They travel the solar system to explore space for scientific purposes. The main characters are all anthropomorphic spaceships, that are all modelled after various species of birds. Eagle, Hawk, Raven, Robyn and Starling are cadets at the academy, and they are being guided by Headmaster Crane.
In each episode, the cadets make a series of new discoveries in deep space.
The series has been praised for its educational content and has won several awards, including the APT Excellence Award in 2014 and a Parents’ Choice Recommended Award in 2015.
