Story

“Squish” is a French animated series based on the graphic novel written by Jennifer L. Holm. It tells the story of a small amoeba named Squish who struggles to fit in with his peers. Squish lives in the Town of Small Pond with other single-celled organisms, including his best friend, a paramecium named Pod.

One day, Squish is introduced to a new amoeba named Peggy, who is a popular student and wants to be Squish’s friend. Squish is thrilled to have a new friend, but he soon realizes that Peggy is not who she seems. Peggy pressures Squish to conform to the norms of the amoeba world, which includes eating other organisms to gain strength.

Squish is torn between his desire to fit in and his moral compass. He seeks advice from his wise, old neighbor, a spirogyra named Grandpa Zeb, who teaches Squish about the importance of being true to oneself.

As Squish struggles with his identity, his school prepares for a science fair, and Squish is determined to win. He teams up with Pod and another amoeba named Lynwood to create a project about photosynthesis. The project is a success, and Squish gains the admiration of his peers, including Peggy.

However, Squish soon discovers that the science fair is not what it seems. The fair is actually a ploy by a group of larger organisms to prey on the smaller ones, including Squish and his friends. Squish and his classmates must work together to overcome the threat and protect their community.

Throughout the series, “Squish” explores themes of individuality, peer pressure, and the importance of standing up for what is right. These themes are presented in a humorous and engaging way, making the series accessible to both children and adults. The characters are relatable, and the illustrations are colorful and dynamic, adding to the overall appeal of the show.

“Squish” is an entertaining and thought-provoking animated series that encourages viewers to embrace their individuality and stand up for what they believe in. The series is a great introduction to complex themes for younger viewers, and the engaging illustrations make it a fun watch for all ages.
