Story
“The Freak Brothers” is an animated series that follows the adventures of three stoner characters—Freewheelin’ Franklin, Phineas, and Fat Freddy—along with Fat Freddy’s cat, Kitty, who are transported from 1969 to 2020 after smoking a magical strain of marijuana. The plot begins in 1968 when the trio smokes a special weed that puts them into a 50-year stasis. When they awaken in the modern world, they are surprised to find that marijuana has been legalized.
The Freak Brothers end up living with the Switzer family, who now own their former home, and they must adapt to contemporary life while helping the Switzers appreciate simpler values. The series chronicles their comedic escapades as they navigate this vastly changed world, often clashing with technology, social norms, and law enforcement.
Throughout the show, the characters face various challenges from a cast of supporting characters, including ScHoolboy Q and their old nemesis, Norberg the Narc. The series combines elements of fish-out-of-water comedy with stoner humor, satirizing both 1960s counterculture and modern society. Each episode typically features the Freak Brothers getting into and out of trouble as they adjust to life in the 21st century.
