Story
Hero of the story is 12-year old Ted Wiggins who lives in a completely artificial city. Everything is made from plastic, metal or synthetic materials. There is not one tree left. His crush, environmentalist Audrey, would like to see a real tree, and Ted decides to find one. He soon finds out that all trees have been chopped down, because they pose a business threat to a company that sells bottled oxygen. He learns about The Lorax, the guardian of the forest, who wasn’t able to save the trees. In the end, Ted manages to convince the inhabitants of the town of the importance of nature. He plants the last Truffula tree seed and as time passes, the land starts to recover and animals return to their habitat. Dr Seuss’ environmental message at the end of the film is “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
