When wanna-be-magician Joe turns 10, his magician uncle, Joe the Magnificent, gives him a mysterious blue book, known as The Book. When Joe and his friends Sam and Fred start reading the book, they are transported back into history or far away into the future, to different times and places where they meet lots of important characters. Whenever they get into trouble, Joe’s talent for magic helps them back into safety. Eventually, Joe and his friends must fight off another of Joe’s uncles, Mad Jack, who wishes to capture the children and The Book.

Joe Arthur: An up-and-coming magician and the present-day owner of The Book, Joe is the unofficial leader of The Time Warp Trio.
Sam: A friend of Joe and Fred who contributes his intelligence and historical knowledge to the group's problems.
Fred: A friend of Joe and Sam. Fred is a sports fan who is headstrong, sometimes to the point of idiocy.
Joe the Magnificent: Joe's uncle, a would-be magician who fails at live performances.
