“Tobot” is a South Korean animated television series produced by Young Toys and Retrobot. The series features transforming cars, some of which are designed after Kia vehicles. The series follows the adventures of a boy named Ryan and his Tobot X, as well as his friend Kory and his Tobot Y, as they fight against evil in Daedo City. The series has 102 episodes in the English version and 392 episodes in the Korean version, spread across four seasons in the English version and 19 seasons in the Korean version. The series is available in Korean and English on Young Toys’ official YouTube channel and an official English dub was produced in Canada by Ocean Productions and its sister studio Blue Water, airing over a few months in 2018. This version is currently available on Netflix.
The first series of Tobot starts when Hana, Duri and Sehmo meets and befriends an AI robot known as a Tobot. The story is one of personal growth and winning against adversity with the series making a personal growth in 2016 making a break onto the world stage with the second generation of Tobots.
In 2018, Tobot set forth to create another new paradigm on the Korean stage where entities come from space to inhabit RC vehicles turning them into the new ‘Tobot GD’. Together with a new hero, they journey forth to protect Earth from those that threaten her and bring peace and happiness to all those around them.
