Story

The series tells the story of Yann, a diving-mad teenager, and Marina, his adorable seven year old sister. Yann and Marina live with their uncle, Patrick, an oceanographer, on Maotou, a paradisiac and remote island in the Pacific Ocean. When Yann meets Zoom, a mysterious and remarkably intelligent white dolphin, it is the start of an indestructible friendship. To call Zoom, Yann beats the „Zoom Signal“ – a recognizable rhythm that spreads out through the water- on the dock or on the hull of a boat.

Throughout the series, the group encounters various challenges, such as pollution, overfishing, and habitat destruction, which threaten the health and safety of the ocean and its inhabitants. They work together to find solutions to these problems, using their unique skills and abilities to overcome obstacles and save the day.

The original animated series “Zoom the White Dolphin” was created in 1971 by Valdimir Tartakovsky. The original cast placed more emphasis on the animal friends of Zoom.

In addition to the environmental themes, “Zoom the White Dolphin” also explores the dynamics of friendship and teamwork. The characters learn to rely on each other and work together to achieve their goals, even when they face difficult situations. They also learn important lessons about honesty, courage, and perseverance, which help them grow and develop as individuals.

The series is entirely computer animated and rendered in 2D. Its original use of light and colours makes its graphic style thoroughly unique.
