Sadness has been pushed aside and treated badly because she doesn’t fit into the perfect, happy world that everyone else wants. She’s sensitive and melancholic, and she feels genuinely hurt by the abandonment of her friend Joy. But Sadness yearns to earn her place among the other emotions, even though they don’t believe she has a purpose.
