The animation studio Jay Ward Productions was founded in 1948 by Jay Ward and based on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. In 2007, Jay Ward Productions and DreamWorks Animation formed Bullwinkle Studios, a joint venture that managed the library and rights of the Jay Ward portfolio. In 2022, the company signed a deal with WildBrain for the production of new content, with DreamWorks holding on to the rights of the co-productions
