The production company Mexopolis was founded in 1994 by Jorge R. Gutierrez and Sandra Equihua. Both born and raised Mexicans, the pair have successfully integrated Mexican folk and popular culture in their characters and stories. Their most successful series El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera has won multiple awards, including several Annies and Emmy Awards. Nowadays, the couple work in Texas, where they work for Reel FX Creative Studios where they continue to create unforgettable characters and stories.
