The time to save the planet is now! Gaia, the spirit of the Earth has therefore sent five magic rings to five very special young people from every continent. There is Kwame from Africa who receives the power of the Earth. Wheeler from North-America receives the power of Fire. Linka from Eastern Europa is gifted with the power of Wind. Gi from Asia learns to yield the power of Water. Lastly Ma-Ti is sent the power of Heart. Combined, these five powers summon the greatest hero and the Earth’s champion, Captain Planet. They will do whatever it takes to take on the villains who try to harm the planet with pollution.

Gaia: the spirit of the planet who sends five magic rings to five chosen youths across the globe.
Captain Planet: Ma-Ti's magnified heart power in the form of a male blue-skinned superhero avatar with green mullet, possessing all of the other Planeteers' amplified powers.
Kwame: Hailing from Africa, Kwame possesses the power of earth.
Wheeler: From Brooklyn, New York City, United States, Wheeler controls the power of fire.
