The animated series Josie and the Pussycats features a teenage all-girl pop music band that tours the world with their entourage, getting mixed up in exciting adventures, spy capers and mysteries. Each episode brings a Josie and the Pussycats song played over a chase scene. The band consists of lead singer, songwriter and guitarist Josie, bassist Valerie and drummer Melody. They’re all dresses in leopard print leotards. Other characters are cowardly manager Alexander Cabot III, his conniving sister Alexandra, her cat Sebastian, and muscular roadie Alan. A musical comedy remake was filmed in 2001, starring Rachael Leigh Cook, Tara Reid and Rosario Dawson.
