Princess Power

“Princess Power” is a 2023 Netflix show created by Elise Allen, based on the book series “Princesses Wear Pants” by Savannah Guthrie and Allison Oppenheim. It was produced by Atomic Cartoons.

The series follows the adventures of four young princess, Kira Kiwi, Beatrice “Bea” Blueberry, Rita Raspberry, and Penelope “Penny” Pineapple. They are four girls from the four major Fruitdoms, who are best friends despite their differences. When a problem arises, the four team up to take action to make a difference for their fellow Fruitizens and make the world a better place. The girls prove that to get things done, princesses wear pants.

With its 15-minute episodes, it tells stories of the four girls making a difference in their Fruitdoms and doing what they can to help others and save the day. Each of the four main characters are good at a certain set of skills: Penny is an aspiring scientist, Beatrice is great at sports, Rita is good at crafting and Kira has a special connection with animals. The series aims to showcase the many career paths girls can take when growing up. The stories are heart-warming and the voice acting and animation is good. This is something to watch if you have daughters dream of becoming princesses, as it breaks the mold of how a princess should be portrayed, as these four are not there to be pretty.

The show is very progressive, it presents two fathers as parents for Bea instead of a traditional straight couple.

The series also aims to teach valuable life lessons. It is a nice example of healthy friendships, kindness, focus and determination.
